Lady Gaga's
"Marry the Night" video has yet to arrive, but Mother Mother graced
her fans with its prelude's opening two minutes on Thursday.
The
new clip features a dark-haired Gaga lying motionless in a hospital
gurney, being pulled through what appears to be a hospital as her
inner monologue offers a voice-over.
"When I
look back on my life, it's not that I don't want to see things
exactly as they happened," she says in a calm monotone. "It's just
that I prefer to remember them in an artistic way. And truthfully,
the lie of it all is much more honest because I invented it."
But
the suspenseful speech wouldn't be Gaga without a fashion nod: "For
example, those nurses. They're wearing next-season Calvin Klein.
And so am I," she says, pointing out their mint-green caps.
The
clip closes with a bit of dark humor, as Gaga ogles a nurse and
wishes off-hand that she'd been given gummy bears like a fellow
patient.
The two-minute clip, dubbed "The
Prelude Pathétique," is just part of the full prelude, which Gaga
tweeted will be seven-and-a-half minutes -- with the "Marry the
Night" video to follow. The video will mark Gaga's first effort as a
director, in addition to her upcoming holiday special, "A Very Gaga
Thanksgiving."
